About Harbour House
Harbour House (South Shore Transition House Association) has supported women and children in Lunenburg and Queens Counties for over 34 years. We operate a 15- bed shelter from an historic 130-year old home and operate Women and Youth Outreach Programs through satellite locations across the counties we serve.
Harbour House serves the women in our communities guided by the following principles:
-- Living without fear of physical, sexual or emotional abuse is a human right.
-- Everyone has the right to receive protection under the law from violence, regardless of the relationship of the parties involved or where the offence occurred.
-- The women we serve are not the cause of the abuse – they are trapped within abusive situations. Acknowledging that many women live in a society that does not clearly state that abusive behaviour of any kind is not acceptable in any circumstance.
The South Shore Transition House Association’s (Harbour House) mission is to
Offer safety, comfort and hope
Support and educate the community
Promote equality on the South Shore
Who We Support
Harbour House receives women of all ages and abilities and their dependent children affected by gender-based violence. We also provide education to families, friends and employers to encourage recognizing the signs and understanding how to provide assistance to women in an abusive situation. These are our best allies in eradicating gender-based domestic violence.
Donate to our cause
We accept monetary donations as well as gift cards and new household items.
